A PUBLIC HEARING will be held Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at 7:00 PM at the Lapeer highway garage on Clarks Corners Road. The Town Board will hold a hearing on the adoption of a local law that would allow an override of the state tax levy limit for the fiscal year beginning January 1, 2027.

NOTICE OF RECEIPT OF TAX ROLL AND WARRANT

 

TAKE NOTICE, that I, Cynthia McFarland, the Collector of Taxes for the Town of Lapeer, County of Cortland and State of New York, have duly received the tax roll and warrant for the collection of taxes within the Town of Lapeer for the year 2026, and that I will accept payment Tuesdays 10 AM to 2 PM and Wednesdays 2 PM to 5 PM at 2011 State Route 221 West, Marathon, NY in the said Town of Lapeer from January 6, 2026 to May 31, 2026, excepting holidays, for the purpose of receiving taxes listed on the said roll.

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that taxes may be paid on or before January 31, 2026 without charge or interest. On all taxes received after such date, there shall be added interest of 1% if paid on or before February 28, 2026 and an additional 1% for each additional month or fraction thereof thereafter until such taxes are paid or until the return of unpaid taxes to the county treasurer pursuant to law.

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that pursuant to the provisions of law the tax roll of the Town of Lapeer will be returned to the County Treasurer of the County of Cortland on the first day of June, 2026.

The parking of vehicles and other obstacles on property within the roadways of the Town is prohibited. Plowing of snow from driveways into any Town roads is also prohibited. Further, the Town of Lapeer is not responsible for damage to mailboxes or posts caused by snowplowing.

Attention Town of Lapeer Residents

 

Notice is hereby given that the Preliminary Budget of the Town of Lapeer for the fiscal year beginning January 1, 2026 has been completed and filed in the office of the Lapeer Town Clerk, 2011 State Route 221, Marathon, NY, where a copy is available for inspection by any interested persons.

 

Further Notice is hereby given that the Lapeer Town Board will hold a Public Hearing on said Preliminary Budget on November 5, 2025 at 7:00 PM in the Lapeer Highway Garage, at which hearing any person may be heard in favor of or against such budget.

Supervisor $4800

Justice $6000

Clerk/Collector $6900

Hwy Superintendent $53,000

NOTICE OF COMPLETION OF TENTATIVE ASSESSMENT ROLL
(Pursuant to Section 506 and 1526 of the Real Property Tax Law)

Notice is hereby given that the Assessor for the Town of Lapeer, County of Cortland, has completed the Tentative Assessnlent Roll for the current year, and that a copy has been left at the Town Clerk’s Office where, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE TOWN CLERK’S HOURS AND OFFICE POLICY, it may be seen and examined by any interested person until Grievance Day. The roll will also be available for viewing on line at www.cortland-co.org/1 95/Real-Property-Tax-Services per requirement of RPTL section 1590(2)

 

The assessor will be available to discuss the Tentative Roll May 14 thru May 17, 2025, by phone only. Grievance Day for the Town of Lapeer will be FrIday, May 30, 2025, from 4-8pm, at the Lapeer Highway Garage to hear and examine all complaints in relation to assessments on the application of any persons believing him/herself to be aggrieved.
