Town of Lapeer
Amnesty Day for residents in the Town of Lapeer will be held at the Lapeer Highway Garage, Clarks Corners Rd., on Saturday, May 11 from 7 AM to 4 PM and Monday, May 13, 2023 from 7 AM to 4 PM. Please drop off materials during those hours.
Accepted items include: construction and demolition wastes; metal objects including white goods (items with freon must be purged and accompanied with a certificate); furniture, mattress/box springs; and loose tin & iron.
NO TIRES, NO CHEMICALS/ LIQUIDS, NO HOUSEHOLD GARBAGE

Tax Season 2024
2018 - 2024 property tax information may be accessed through the TaxGlance system. You need not input all the information on the search page; usually just your name will bring up the bill.
Need a copy of your tax bill? Click the same link or contact the Cortland County Treasurer at 607-753-5070. After June 1st I no longer have copies of the tax bills.
Prior to beginning ANY building project, you MUST contact the Code Enforcer first. Your permit will not be signed otherwise.

Any remodel jobs which require structural changes to existing construction also require a building permit.
There will be a $10.00 filing fee if you lose your copy and require another.
The Code Enforcement Officer, Alan Butler, is responsible for inspections and enforcement only. He may be reached at 849-6919. You must obtain your building permit from me, the Town Clerk, and include any necessary septic/well permits. Pictures and/or sketches of the site and structure will be required.
Failure to obtain a building permit prior to building will result in double the fee and a stop-work order.

Dog Control
The license fee for a spayed/neutered dog is $10.00.
The license fee for a dog that is not altered is $20.00.
Late fees are $5.00 per month per dog and begin the day after the expiration date of the license.
Please renew promptly. If you are found with an unlicensed dog at the time of a dog enumeration, you will be fined an additional $5.00 per Town Ordinance.
Licensing is simple and quick. Proof of rabies is required as well as a spay/neuter certificate, if applicable. Renewals can be done by mail. Just call or email for further information.
